Bueno, este topic Re-creado, es para que ojala FINALMENTE podramos conversar los integrantes del TEAM XPS Cheap "THE MOVIE".
La idea es que tengamos todas las soluciones a nuestras futuras dudas o preguntas, osea, que nos ayudemos entre nosotros y compartamos inquietudes, estado del pedido, links, etc...
Para Cambiar su Sistema operativo: de Windows Vista a XP; deben seguir los siguentes pasos :
Install Windows XP on DELL XPS M1330
Part I: Windows XP professional installation CD
Any Dell XP SP2 Pro installation CD for previous Dell models (what I used)
Advantage of using the Dell OEM XP CD is that it never asks for a CD-key and works perfectly.
Note that certain important XP drivers for M1330 are missing in Dell's support site.
We need to download them from different sources instead:
1. Display driver:

Partitions 1, 2, 3 are primary partitions and without them you are not allowed to re-install the MediaDirect (windows version). Furthermore, without proper partition arrangement, even after you successfully install the XP, once you press the “MediaDirect” button to boot, it will corrupt the boot setting of your newly installed XP and then you cannot boot back to XP anymore!
It is highly recommended to backup the original pre-installed Vista HDD partitions first for later Vista restore.
Take out the original HDD and connect it to another PC with SATA, or plug in the original HDD into an external USB HHD case with SATA interface. Run GHOST to clone the entire Vista disk into a *.GHO image for later restoring of the Vista HDD.
There are 3 options to go: 1. Install XP to override Vista on Partition 3 <OS> w/o alter other partitions (Recommended) 2. Delete Partitions 2, 3, 4 and re-partitioning them to adjust the partition sizes according to your need and install XP on partion 3 <OS> (Advanced users only) 3. Use Dell MediaDirect Re-installing CD to erase entire HDD and create the first and last partitions required by MediaDirect, and then you can create new partitions in the middle free spaces (Experts only)
Option 1: Override Vista by XP in the same OS partition (Keep MediaDirect partitions) When installing XP (refer to next section) using the WinXP installation CD, please choose to delete partition 3 <OS> and re-create it before installing the new XP OS
Option 2: Re-partitioning 2,3,4 and install XP (Keep MediaDirect partitions) 1. Take out the original HDD and connect it to another PC with SATA, or plug in the original HDD into an external USB HHD case with SATA interface. 2. Run the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management(Local) to re-partition the RECOVERY, OS, DATAPART1 according to your need. 3. You may choose to delete only the partitions 2, 3 and 4 (optional) to adjust their sizes accordingly to your need. 4. In order to let the later WinXP installer CD to install XP into partition 3 with driver letter “C”, it is better to delete partitions 2 <RECOVERY> and 4 <DATAPART1> as free spaces and leave the partition 3 <OS> only so that later WinXP will recognize it as drive “C” for XP installation.
Option 3: Starting from MeidaDirect Re-Installation CD (Re-create all partitions) Get the MediaDirect re-installation CD labeled as: "For Re-installing Dell MediaDirect 3.3 on Dell XPS M1330 Computers" 1. Insert MediaDirect CD and re-boot from CD 2. From the menu items: "1", "2", "3" Press menu "1" if you want only need one "C:" drive for later OS intallation Press menu "2" if you want "C:", "D:" drives for later OS installation *** Specify the size of drive "C:" in GB, remaining size will be assigned to "D:" *** Here I choose "2" to have multiple drives to suit my purpose 3. The installation CD will ERASE all data in you HDD and creates two partitions for its uses and copy necessary files. After installation completes, Eject the MediaDirect installation CD 4. Press any key to reboot and next to insert the XP installation CD to install the WinXP OS
Part IV: Install Windows XP on M1330

Step 1: Modify M14330 BIOS setting
Since XP SP2 installation CD doesn't support SATA HDD at that moment, we need to disable M1330's SATA and set back to ATA mode for entire XP installation:
1. Boot and press "F2" to enter BIOS setup menu
2. Onboard Devices -> Flash Cache Module: Change to "Enabled" to "Off"
3. Onboard Devices -> SATA Opteration: Change from "AHCI" to "ATA"
4. System -> Boot Sequence: Move "CD/DVD/CD-RW" item up to the top
5. Press "ESC" and choose "Save/Exit" to save and exit BIOS
Note: whenever staying in the BIOS menu, you can eject out / insert the installation CD
Partitioning the HDD accordingly to what you need, I partition my new HDD same as the Vista as I want to install the Dell MeidiaDirect in the XP too. My order for M1330 is 60GB for OS and remaining 100GB for data partition.
Step 2: Install WinXP
Insert the XP installation CD and boot from CD and install the XP as usual. If using the Dell XP SP2 Pro CD, it is no need to enter any CD-key.
Settings after Windows XP Installation and reboot the new OS (case dependent):
1. Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management
2. Change CD-ROM 0 letter to "F"
3. Re-create the partition 4 <DATAPART1> and set it drive letter to “D” (optional)
4. Format partition 4 to NTFS, change letter to "D" and rename to "USER" (optional)
5. Re-create the partition 2 <RECOVERY> and set it drive letter to “E”
6. Format partition 2 to NTFS, change letter to "E" and rename to "RECOVERY"
Step 3: Install M1330 specific drivers on XP
Copy all the downloaded driver source into the M1330 via a USB drive.
Install the driver one by one and reboot the system once and once as required...
3. Special handle of SATA driver installation
To install Intel 82801GBM SATA AHCI Controller driver, execute kim06ww.exe to unpack the driver.
Run install.com in \PREPARE, it installs a small program in c:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSM\PREPARE and then run c:\DRIVERS\WIN\IMSM\PREPARE\install.cmd. Reboot the laptop.
Press "F2" to enter BIOS menu again, re-enable the "FLASH CACHE MODEL" and change "ATA" to "AHCI", remember to SAVE and exit BIOS. Reboot the laptop again.
Entering XP, the system will discover a new PCI hardware; browse the driver to the "7kim06ww" folder to install the actual SATA driver.
4. Display driver: NVIDIA-GeForce 8400M GS
5. Special handle of Audio driver installation
Install the Microsoft UUA Bus driver patch to XP SP2 and Audio Driver
For XP to support UAA Bus driver for High Definition Audio CODEC, install the XP patche:
After install this patch kb888111xpsp2.exe, you will see in Device Manage the following driver: "Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio CODEC".
Then install the R158235.EXE (SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio driver) and rebooting XP
6. R155586.EXE: Dell Touchpad, Pointing Stick driver
7. R155246.EXE: Broadcom-59XX Ethernet driver
8. R164255.EXE: Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN-driver
9. R127314.EXE: Network-Wireless 335 Bluetooth Module driver
10. R160323.EXE: Creative Laptop Integrated Webcam driver
11. R160320.EXE: Creative Laptop Integrated Webcam applications
12. Install the UPEK-TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor for the “Biometric Coprocessor”
Part V: Install Dell utilities/applications

Step 1: R160713.EXE: UPEK TouchStrip Reader Application “Protector Suite QL 5.6”
After this application is installed and reboot, double click the “Fingerprint” icon on the task bar to scan your fingerprints. After that, it is able to use the fingerprint scanner to logon the WinXP.
Step 2: Re-install Dell MediaDirect 3.3
If the original Vista MediaDirect partition still exists, just insert the MediaDirect Re-Installation to re-install the MediaDirect Windows version.
After reboot, go and run C:\DELL\MediaDirect\App and run setup.exe to complete the windows version MediaDirect re-installation.
If your Vista MediaDirect partition has been deleted, please clone it back from previous GHOSTed image
After that: Run the MediaDirect 3.3 patch R159790_MediaDirect_33Patch.exe downloaded from Dell’s download and support site.
However, only the Windows mode MediaDirect can be used but not the standalone MediaDirect.
After shutdown, pressing the “MediaDirect” button will show a splash screen of “DELL Media Direct” but eventually it boots back to the Windows XP (not the standalone MediaDirect)
For the Windows mode MediaDirect, due to absence of Quickset installed, pressing the “MediaDirect” button will not launch the MediaDirect program, you need to place its shortcut on Desktop instead.
Step 3: RISING.EXE: Dell Support 3.4 Application
Install this for getting the DELL online auto diagnose and support services.
Step 4: QuickSet Application
The remaining failed-to-install utility is the QuickSet for XP: R151309.EXE:
XP verson of Dell QuickSet from other Dell XP models failed to be installed on M1330
The installation program just refuses to be installed onto M1330.
I tried the M1330's Vista QuickSet but the installation refuses to be installed on M1330 XP OS.
Without this, pressing the function keys like brightness, volume up/down, play/stop will not have any visual indication/feedback on XP but they are still working. Also the nice utility Wi-Fi Catcher(TM) Network Locator is missing.

Ojala no no se demoren demasiado, al parecer los ultimos XPS que han despachado han salido como en 25 dias, lo malo es que igual ahora somos hartos, nos demoramos entre nosotros xD
